A Spectrophotometry Evaluation of Clear Aligners Transparency: Comparison of 3D-Printers and Thermoforming Disks in Different Combinations

(1) Background: the aim of this study was to investigate transmittance levels aligners in relation different thermoforming disks and printers after 14 days vitro aging. (2) Methods: level 18 investigated. Three were used create aligner: Carbon L1, Prodways LD20 RapidShape D100+. Each printer produced 6 aligners: three made Zendura FLX material Scheu Ca Pro+. sample subjected spectrophotometry analysis its levels, for a total 54 measurements at T0. Then, all samples aged constant temperature artificial saliva supplemented with food coloring each. The protocol repeated, same collected T1 (after aging). resulting data analyzed compared by means ANOVA (p < 0.05). (3) Results: tested revealed lower values CA Pro+ showed higher transparency T0, but significant worsening aesthetic T1. On other hand, presented slightly reduced before aging, which, however, remained more stable days, showing no difference. In specific, better optical properties than others, both T0 (4) Conclusions: Differences pre-and-post-aging are influenced manufacturing process. Both thermoplastic printers, thanks new technologies, played positive role final product, which improved previous studies.
